A Night on Milford Sound After Everyone Else Has Left Most requested Fiordland
01

A Night on Milford Sound After Everyone Else Has Left

The last commercial cruise departs by 5pm. From that moment, the Sound belongs entirely to you.

We charter a private vessel for groups of 6 to 20. After dinner in the galley, your clients step onto the deck as the fiord walls rise 1,600 metres on either side in absolute silence. No other vessels. No ambient light. Dawn moves slowly down the rock faces before it reaches the water. This is the experience that clients mention, without exception, when asked what they will remember most about New Zealand.

Groups 6-20 · Vegetarian catering available · Book 6 months ahead

Practical notes for agents

Best positioned as the close of a South Island programme on night 6 or 7. Vessels accommodate 8-20 passengers in comfortable en-suite cabins with all meals included. Shoulder season (March to May) is equally extraordinary and far easier to secure. Combine with Te Anau glowworm caves the day before for a complete Fiordland experience.

KGT access

KGT holds direct relationships with the licensed overnight operators on Milford Sound and can secure dates not available through public booking channels. Contact us with your client dates as early as possible.

A Private Hangi Feast at a Working Tribal Marae Highest cultural impact Waikato
02

A Private Hangi Feast at a Working Tribal Marae

Not the staged cultural show. An invitation into a living community.

A private hangi at a working tribal marae begins with a formal powhiri - a welcome ceremony led by tribal elders - followed by a guided walk through the intricately carved wharenui, and an evening meal slow-cooked underground in an earth oven. Indian guests consistently describe this as the moment they understood New Zealand as a people, not just a landscape. The parallel to Indian cultural hospitality is felt immediately.

Groups 4-30 · Vegetarian hangi (2 weeks notice) · Direct tribal access

Practical notes for agents

Best combined with Hobbiton Movie Set in the morning for a full Waikato day. Minimum 2 weeks advance notice required for vegetarian hangi. Not suitable for guests with significant mobility challenges as the marae grounds include some uneven terrain.

KGT access

KGT holds direct relationships with tribal hosts in the Waikato region. This is not a ticketed attraction - access is by invitation through us and is not available through any booking platform.

Wanaka at Dawn - Before the World Arrives Most photographed moment Central Otago
03

Wanaka at Dawn - Before the World Arrives

The photograph most people have seen was taken in silence, at first light, with no one else present.

We arrange a private pre-dawn transfer from your clients accommodation. They arrive at the lakefront as first light begins - typically around 5:30am in summer - with a local photographer and a pre-packed breakfast. For 45 minutes before any other visitor arrives, the scene belongs entirely to them. The lone willow reflects perfectly in still water. Autumn (March to April) is when the willow turns gold.

Available October to April · Private photographer optional · Breakfast included

Practical notes for agents

The willow is at its most photogenic in autumn when leaves turn gold. The private photographer is optional but taken up by approximately 85% of clients - the images are substantially better than phone photographs at pre-dawn light levels. Pair with Treble Cone or Mount Aspiring for a full Wanaka day.

KGT access

KGT arranges the pre-dawn transfer, photographer briefing, and packaged breakfast. We work with a small group of Wanaka-based specialists exclusively for this experience.

For agents it is a credibility marker: clients who stayed at Huka tell a different story about you.

20 suites · River jet boat and fly fishing from lodge · Book 6-9 months ahead

Practical notes for agents

Always position Huka as the first lodge on any NZ itinerary - it sets the quality register for everything that follows. Best placed on night 3 or 4 of a North Island programme, between Rotorua and Auckland. Indian vegetarian menus are accommodated - advise at time of booking.

Waitomo Glowworms by Private Boat - After Dark Magic for families Waikato
05

Waitomo Glowworms by Private Boat - After Dark

After the last public tour, the Cathedral belongs to your group.

After the last public tour of the day, we arrange private boat entry into the Cathedral - the underground cavern where thousands of glowworms unique to New Zealand create a ceiling of blue-green light. In a private boat, in total silence, with no other visitors present, the effect is unlike anything most people have experienced. Indian families with children consistently rate this among their top three New Zealand memories.

Year-round · Min 4 / Max 12 guests · 40 min from Hobbiton

Practical notes for agents

Available year-round - the glowworm colony is active 365 days. Private access begins after approximately 5pm when the last public tour clears. Suitable for children aged 5 and over. Comfortable footwear required. Excellent when combined with Hobbiton the following morning for a complete Waikato day.

KGT access

KGT arranges private after-hours access through our operator relationship. The standard daytime tourist experience is also available independently for clients with different preferences or budget.

Private Cellar Door Dinner at Craggy Range

A High Country Station Overnight For clients who have done everything Mackenzie Basin
07

A High Country Station Overnight

Working sheep stations beneath the Southern Alps. Heritage huts, private hot tubs, and a sky unlike anything else on earth.

The Mackenzie Basin is the landscape behind the final scenes of The Lord of the Rings. We arrange private overnight stays at working high-country stations - heritage huts with luxury bedding, private outdoor hot tubs, and a cook preparing dinner from the property's own produce. Mount Cook is visible on clear days. No other guests. No reception desk. Nothing prepares your clients for the Southern Alps at night.

Private properties only · Families welcome · Dark Sky Reserve · Best Dec-May

Practical notes for agents

Best positioned as a one-night stopper between Queenstown and Christchurch - it sits naturally on the route. Children enjoy the working farm context. Dark Sky Reserve status means stargazing is extraordinary on clear nights; a telescope and star briefing can be arranged.

Private Charter Through the Marlborough Sounds Maldives and Andaman clients Marlborough
08

Private Charter Through the Marlborough Sounds

1,500 kilometres of sheltered coastline. No other vessel in the bay by morning.

The Marlborough Sounds are a drowned river valley system - hundreds of bays and inlets accessible only by water. We charter a private vessel (40 to 65 feet, sleeping 4 to 8) for a day or overnight journey including private bays, a mussel farm tasting straight from the water, a walk along the Queen Charlotte Track, and an anchorage with no other vessels in sight. Indian clients who have done the Maldives or Andaman Islands by liveaboard immediately understand the appeal.

Day charters from NZD $2,400 · Overnight from NZD $4,800 · 4-8 weeks notice

Practical notes for agents

Best positioned as a 2-night Marlborough stay, combined with one afternoon of cellar door wine tasting before boarding. The Interislander ferry from Wellington to Picton crosses the outer Sounds - position the charter as a continuation of that journey. Fully vegetarian catering with advance notice.

KGT access

KGT holds direct charter relationships in Marlborough with three licensed operators. Day charters from approximately NZD $2,400 per vessel, overnight from NZD $4,800. Advance notice of 4 to 8 weeks sufficient for most dates outside peak summer.

Te Papa Museum - A Private Evening with a Curator Underrated by India itineraries Wellington
09

Te Papa Museum - A Private Evening with a Curator

New Zealand's national museum, after hours, with nobody else inside.

Te Papa Tongarewa holds one of the finest collections of Maori taonga in existence, alongside a blue whale skeleton, the world's only colossal squid specimen on display, and an active earthquake simulator. Private after-hours access from 6pm, curator-led through the Maori galleries and natural history collection, positions Wellington correctly for Indian clients who might otherwise give it half a day. Wellington's finest restaurants are a short walk for dinner afterward.

Groups 4-30 · Approximately 2 hours · Evening restaurant booking arranged

Practical notes for agents

Wellington is consistently underrated on Indian itineraries. A private Te Papa evening followed by dinner at Logan Brown or Boulcott Street Bistro leaves clients genuinely surprised. Combine with Zealandia wildlife sanctuary in the daytime to see kiwi and tuatara in the wild. Allow a full day for Wellington with this programme.

KGT access

KGT arranges private after-hours museum access and handles restaurant booking as a packaged Wellington evening. We work with a small number of Te Papa curators for the guided component. Advance notice of 2 to 3 weeks required.

Oamaru Blue Penguin Twilight Return - Private Platform Magic for families North Otago
10

Oamaru Blue Penguin Twilight Return - Private Platform

Every evening at dusk, hundreds of the world's smallest penguins return from the sea.

At dusk, hundreds of little blue penguins - the world's smallest, found only in New Zealand - waddle up the beach at Oamaru to their nesting burrows. The private viewing platform reserves the experience for your group only, with a naturalist guide who identifies individual birds by their return patterns. India has extraordinary wildlife, but nothing like this. Indian families with children consistently describe this as one of the most magical moments of any trip they have ever taken.

Year-round, every evening · Private platform NZD $280/person · Families

Practical notes for agents

Best as a stopper between Christchurch and Queenstown - directly on the route. Combine with Moeraki Boulders the following morning (25 minutes south). The Victorian Precinct in Oamaru is worth 90 minutes in the afternoon before the penguins. Year-round - the colony is present every evening regardless of season.

KGT access

KGT arranges the private platform reservation and naturalist guide. The public viewing experience is available independently at approximately NZD $35 per person - the private platform is booked exclusively through us and is a different experience entirely.
