About this tour
This private tour combines two of New Zealand's most iconic experiences — the Hobbiton Movie Set at Matamata, and the geothermal and cultural wonders of Rotorua — in a single, full-day journey from Auckland.
At Hobbiton, your guide accompanies you through 44 Hobbit Holes, the Mill, the Party Tree, and the Green Dragon Inn — the fully preserved movie set built for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The rolling hills and immaculate gardens of the Alexander family farm remain just as they appeared on screen.
From Hobbiton, we continue south to Rotorua — a city built on one of the world's most active geothermal zones. The ground steams, geysers erupt, and Māori culture is woven into every aspect of the city's life. We visit Te Puia, home to the Pōhutu geyser and New Zealand's national school of Māori arts and crafts.
